So I've been looking both of these games up.. EVE looks like it has a lot more to offer, but I'm not the kind of guy to be into one game for a loooong time, I like to play some things and then others, but I wouldnt mind playing it all the time. The thing that bothers me is paying for it, and the only reason I'm asking this is because Steam said you can pay through money you make in the game.. So is it easy to make in game money? Do any players out there pay strictly like that?
I love strategy, so I think I'll get sins anyway. But I would like to play EVE
I think EVE Online is the best choice. Here's why:
1) Your skills are training automatically even when you are logged off so that eliminates the endless grinding for experience you see in other MMORPGs. That way you can safely have blackout periods and when you come back fresh, your character will be even more powerful.
2) The game is very complex so it's hard to get bored once you get the hang of it. Of course it can be a bit daunting at first since it has a steep learning curve. You have the freedom to do anything you want: Piracy, mining, missions, trading, industry & manufacturing, PVP (a lot of it!), even scamming other players if that's your thing although it's frowned upon.
3) You can pay your subscription with in-game currency (called ISK) so in a way it's free to play! Of course you don't want to turn that into yet another grind so the easiest way to earn ISK is to employ the use of an EVE Online Mining Bot that can do it for you while you sleep or do other things. The best EVE Mining Bot I've found is TinyMiner, check it out below if you're interested. I have always used it to make ISK to pay my subscription and it's been superb so far!

No. However Steam has sometimes different pricing for new purchase so you might be able to safe a bit at the initial purchase - subscription fee is exactly the same.
Also keep in mind that you can purchase PLEX (Pilot License Extention = gametime) for ingame money - around 250 mil ISK I believe (also works the other way around, you can sell your gametime for ingame currency).
